From Bike-Powered Startup to $10M Social Enterprise
I’m honored that Wash Cycle Laundry has been named a recipient of the 2025 Excelencia in Hispanic Business “Breakthrough” Award by the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
“Breakthrough” is the right word. Not because of any single moment, but because building this company has felt like a long series of walls that we’ve had to push through — one at a time, year after year.
Wash Cycle started as a small, bike-powered laundry service in West Philadelphia. Today we’re a $10M+ social enterprise operating nearly 24/7, employing 140 people, and serving major hotels across the Northeast. But the number I’m most proud of isn’t revenue — it’s that over 100 of those team members are doing work that gives them stability, growth, and a reason to show up every day.
The Team Behind the Award
This award was made possible by one of the best teams in our business. Jessica Paz Velasquez and Fredy Cespedes make sure over 15 million pounds of laundry come and go every year. Hayley Townsend and Daniela Ortega communicate proactively with our customers. And over 100 other team members meet deadlines, solve problems, and help each other grow in new and amazing ways.
To the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber — thank you for recognizing not just me, but the team and the community that made this possible.
